TIONG BAHRU BAKERY @ ENG HOON STREET - "NEW - TASTINGS !!!" - MAY 2012

Since I have not been back to one of my Fav Eats - Fish Porridge @ Eng Hoon Street ( Tiong Bahru ) for a few months,so I didn't realised that the next door Shophouse - the Wholesale Egg Supplier is now taken over by the newly opened & converted shophouse - TIONG BAHRU BAKERY until I read one of "Famous Facebook Friend" - PoshNosh Food Writer - Tan Hsueh Yun's - "Best Croissant In Town" - Taste / The SundayTimes / May 6 2012 !!! ;-)


- Currently Two Bakers - Pascal  will be here for 6-7 months
and Miki will be based here for long term !


And it's great news for Foodies who enjoy Freshly Baked Breads that besides Maison Kayser and Paul Boulangerie,there's now another top French Celeb baker from Paris - GONTRAN CHERRIER who have partner Cynthia Chua - Spa Esprit Group ( who already have - Harry Grover's - 40 Hands & Open Door Policy .... nearby in the same Tiong Bahru location ! ) And I read that after opening Tiong Bahru,the next one will be @ Raffles City in August ! Guessed this is definitely a good location to kick start before taking on all the strong competition in Orchard Road area in later this year - November !!!" ;-)


- If it's Packed,then it's Best to Bring a Book or Something
that U can Chope ( reserve ) any available table while you are ordering !
Expect some Inconsiderate Folks to take Big Table ( 4 paxs ) for 1 or 2 Paxs !!! ;-(

Interesting DECOR with a large Wooden Door entrance then it's their Coffee Machines manned by their trained Filipino Baristas ( from 40 Hands ) - ( I skipped the Coffee here to check out - STRANGERS' REUNION @ Kampong Bahru instead - See Next Posting !!! ;-) )

- Filipina Cashier Almost Always Happy & Friendly !!! ;-)

Then it's their Bread selection Spread ( there was this Filipino guy that kept asking me - How Many Chocolate Croissant I wanted ??? Since it was my 1st Visit,I looked at him - Why is it that delicious ??? He sounded quite Hard Sell - U don't want,it will be gone soon !!! But I protested that - Can you also recommend other Must Taste Items ??? He asked me again - So how many you want ??? Wahaha !!! )


- Was actually looking for the Croissant featured
in Posh Nosh but Not the Same Looking !!!
- which Hsueh Yun mentioned that "it looks almost too good to eat"



So course I didn't have a choice to order their CHERRIER's Signature Croissants but it was their Chocolate Croissant ( this item must be "tasted and tested by my good friend KIE" who's a expert on tis !!! Haha !!! ) below -


- Chocolate Croissant - $3.20

- Tastings - Enjoyed the Taste & Texture ! Crispy Top and Soft Layers Below ! The sweetness of the Chocolate was just nice ! Highly Recommended !!! Next I will taste Croissant with small plate of Butter & Jam provided near the Free Water area !!! ;-)

Then there was this casually dressed young girl behind the counter that highly recommended their Apple Crumble below -


- Apple Crumble - $6.00

- Tastings - Maybe it was not such a good idea that I order & taste the above after their Chocolate Croissant because the portion will be great for sharing ! Or a good idea if do a takeaway to enjoy the above warmly microwaved and the served with a scoop of your Fav Ice Cream !!! YUMs !!! ;-)


- Caffe Latte - $5.50 with Mandarine - $6.00

- Chocolate Brownie - $5.00

- Almond Croissant - $3.20
