"SARONG GRILL & CHILL @ #01-03 MILLENIA WALK" - 1st Lunch Tastings - Year 2010

My "regular lunch makan kaki ( eating buddy )" - KIE and myself who have been "on the lookout for traditional Indon cuisine for the longest time" and we decided to check out the above. Juz a "heads up" on the Decor - the owners have "combed thru upmarket eats in Jakarta and decided to introduce a trendy Bali resort style "chill out" dining with casual open air look to enjoy Indon Street Eats ! And their "designer resort Sarong wear" Crew also gave excellent & friendly service with a sweet smiles !

And since it's our first time & their "helpful & chatty" Boss Lady - Mrs.Hau highly recommended us to taste their "signature eats liked SATE,Nasi Tumpeng,Lontong and Cendol" ! We were happy that we may have finally discovered the above that's "truly authentic Indon Eats" especially their Jakarta style - SATE ( Satay ) menu...the basic meats - Beef and Chicken is chunkier, tender and tasty with a lighter marinade ( vs the local Peanut sauce ) enjoyed by dipping Kecap Manis ( thick, sweet sauce ) Instead of ordering it ala carte Sate Menu,we selected their "Two Feet Set" ( $38 for 24 Sticks which also include : Mushrooms & Prawns ) and also their NASI TUMPENG ( Cone Shaped Or Mountain of KUNING or Yellow Rice ) We also tasted their LONTONG ( Rice cakes with vegetables in extra thick & rich Lemak ( Coconut Milk ) gravy & ( with it ) we enjoyed most was the Fried Salted Fish ! ) which much "interesting & tastier" than their Soups or SOPs Madura and Sayur Asam ( maybe when it was served it was not hot enough ! ) Of course for our lunch finale - we tried their BLISSFULLY SWEET - CHENDOL ( acceptable tasting ! ) and PANNA COTTA with Palm Sugar ( Not really that Special or Interesting ! )

Will definitely return soon for DINNER soon to check out their other Signature Eats liked - RENDANG BURGER,TAHU GORENG ISI & TAHU TELOR ! And of course for their "Must Order" - SATE again...probably with my good buddy JL to enjoy their - THREE FEET ( $60 for 36 Sticks )  but i will prefer to enjoy it liked ala YAKITORI style with BEER ( Hopefully their BAR have Asahi Super Dry Beer ! )

TWO-FEET ( $38 for 24 Sticks )

NASI TUMPENG ( With Assorted Vegetables With Meat ( Rendang )
Or Seafood Item ) - Must Try !!!

SOP MADURA - $4.50

LONTONG - $8.80 ( Must Try !!! Enjoyed This Especially With The Crispy Fish !!! ;-)

PANNA COTTA With Palm Sugar - $5.55

CHENDOL - $4.95

"CAFFE B @ The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands" - 1st Lunch Tastings On December 18 2010

After an enjoyable TGIF with my best buddy JL @ newly opened - BARLACAVA @ ION with almost "free flow of ASAHI Super Dry and almost tasted all their Bites Menu ( which i will post soon ! ) i decided that i will have Brunch today !" So hopped onto my ride from Orchard MRT to Raffles MRT and then walked over to the newly opened MARINA BAY FINANCIAL CENTRE to check out any Interesting latest eats there before my scenic route along the waterfront to THE SHOPPES AT MARINA BAY SANDS.And i enjoyed this with cool, windy and blue skies ! Life is fun at last in SG !!!

I have been reading reviews and recently i was having all these Latest Eats in mind liked - "CAFFE B,CUT & MOZZA" there !!! And it was actually - "DB BISTRO MODERNE" that had "the most inviting decor from front !"....Earlier both CUT and MOZZA seem liked they were "not ready for lunch with both receptionist busy doing something & with their restaurant dimly lit up !"...So i was pleased with my final decision to taste and enjoy the newly opened,chic - fine dining Italian dining with a Italian trained Japanese Chef -CAFFE B - ( it actually gave me the feeling of dining in a trendy & hip Omato-sando Tokyo because the Interior was designed by a renowned Japanese Designer ! ) of course it was important that i was happy that the Receptionist was most welcoming & she escorted me to my table ( actually it was liked i almost booked the whole place this afternoon...till a party showed up at their exclusive - Teppan or Grill Room later ! ) And during my very enjoyable brunch experience i was well taken care by my friendly & attentive filipino waitress - Earl ( ex-Palio,RWS ) and later the Malaysian Chinese manager CK ( ex-Forlino ) ! It was truly 5 Star excellent VIP service !!!

I was told that the Japanese owners have "invested almost S$2mil into the 100 seater with their Bay Front Bar facing the scenic Marina Bay with also alfresco dining opening soon !"...And their Wine List was impressive !!!...

After studying their menu for awhile and checking with Earl on their "signature pasta & mains & desserts" ( of course she recommended me their most expensive items liked Linguine with live Boston Lobster and Grilled Wagyu Sirloin...but since their Chef was Japanese i much preferred more Italian Japanese style cooking style eats ) i ordered the following :

PASTA - Fideline With Japanese Sakura EBI Shrimp & Dried Mullet Roe - $32.00

PESCE - Tonnina Giapponese Grigliata Alla Salsa Salmonoriglio e in Salata Wasabi
- Grilled Japanese Hon Maguro Blue Fin Tuna With A Wasabi Leaf & Herb Salad,Drizzled With Extra Virgin Oil - $38.00

DOLCI - Gelato Orientale - Assorted Japanese Gelato - Green Tea,Black Sesame & Vanilla - $12.00

Hazelnut Latte - $6.50

Relaxed Saturday Brunch !!! ;-)

"FUKUICHI @ Triple One Somerset - "Casual Japanese Eats" - Year 2010

Above my Fav HK Steamboat - Imperial Treasure & located at #02-11/12 - I have tasted the above - http://www.fukuichidining.com.sg/ - TEL: 6271 5586 - twice last month after their soft opening. It's the latest addition to the Mid Range,Family-style Japanese restaurants. It boasted Fresh Seafood supplies from one of their business partner fleet of fishing vessels that will make it "Value-For-Money Japanese Fare" ( Dining Out - The Business Times by my Good Friend - Geoffrey Eu )

During my tastings last month,on the Service Standards - i guessed because it was newly opened so both the Chefs and Crew have not really "fine tune their teamwork yet because there were confusion that caused delays for most of the orders and even i needed a long time to pay my bill ( due to problems with the payment machine ) !" But what's interesting about the decor - "there's an al fresco Sake Bar and tables at the terrace outside so i guessed it will be nice dining there on a cool nite !" ( My good lunch buddy KIE complained there was a strong Fishy Smell at the Central Sushi Counter - Again over here the busy Chefs look liked they trying to outdo each other due to confusion on orders ! ) So personally i may visit the above again only if my parents or a good friend insist to checking it out or there are any special promos for Special Seafood at hard to resist prices !!!

Here are some of the Items from their Lunch Menu that we have tasted :

Complimentary Tuna Hand Rolls

SHAKE SASHIMI UDON TEISHOKU
Salmon Sashimi & Noodle Set - $18.00

GINDARA KAMI NABE
Cod Fish Paper Pot - $26

KAMASU - Barrakuda

KAREI - Sole Fish

MACHA ICE CREAM - Green Tea
Ice Cream - $5.00
( Sesame Ice Cream Was Not Available ;-) )

Cheers & Enjoy !!!
