PROCACCI @ CUSTOMS HOUSE,70 COLLYER QUAY,SINGAPORE - 1st Lunch - Feb 28 / 2011

Actually read about PROCACCI last year & there were mixed reviews from various Foodie Friends ! So since there's a Event Invite @ the CUSTOMS HOUSE this week from one of my VIP Clients,i thought i should go there to have a look.So i was really glad that my Regular Good Lunch Buddy - KIE was game for it ! Both of us have not been there before !

Address : 70 Collyer Quay #01-04 Customs House
Contact : +65 6532 9939

Their Bread - personally i Luv Bread so this is very important on my ratings & if it will become one of my Fav Eats. For PROCACCI - it's : 6 / 10

For Lunch - besides the Wine Menu, the waiter passed us the "hard laminated Lunch Menu" :

- 2 Courses : $35
- 3 Courses : $45
- 4 Courses : $55

After looking thru' the menu, both of us decided to skip their - Antipasti and we ordered their Primi ( Pasta ) :

Tagliatella al Ragu Bianco
( Tagliatelle With Waygu Beef Sauce )

Taglioline Con Zafferano Red Snapper & Asparagus

and for Secondi ( Mains ) we ordered :

Red Snapper Dello Chef
( Red Snapper Mediterranean Style )

Cotoletta Milanese
( Breaded Veal Milanese Style )

And since both of us enjoy Desserts & since we are "tasting the above for the 1st time,we might as well order their - Dolci ( there was only 3 Items there to select ! )

Profiteroles

Tiramisu
So finally i have checked out - PROCACCI and personally my thoughts are - "the above Eats was actually quite standard tastings and my Ratings are : 6.5 / 10 ! Guessed i will only return if there's a good friend ( or VIP Client ) who knows the Chef or Owners so that it will be Special Menu !  For Exec Set Lunches @ Italian Eats - my Perference will be : OTTO Ristorante or BONTA !"

Cheers & Enjoy !!!

ENOTECA L'OPERETTA @ BOAT QUAY,Singapore - "1st Lunch Tastings" - November 1st 2010

If you take a short walk from UOB Plaza to the other end of Boat Quay, you will be "rewarded" with this "stylish Italian Japanese Eats" - Enoteca L'Operetta ;-)

Since I am always "game for the Latest Eats !" - So after reading in the Weekend Edition - Business Times few months ago,I was looking forward to check it out !!! ;-)

With Italian Trained Chef - SEITA NAKAHARA
Advanced Booked This Special Table !
Their DECOR looked cosy & classy with mostly white colored interiors with tasteful furnitures with some natural lighting from above of table ! And there were large paintings of famous Opera Singers on the walls by Japanese Artist. And the atmosphere was buzzing with few Japanese expat ladies & soon joined by a group of Japanese Corporate Executives in their dark Biz Suits.Immediately my thoughts was it was liked lunch in Shibuya or Aoyama,Tokyo ! Omoshiroi ne !!! ;-)

Guessed there must be interest and support to their Japanese Chef and Owner ! Most likely by "word of mouth within the Japanese community" And since being featured recently in the popular Japanese magazine - MANGOSTEEN CLUB. Then the place was almost packed full house & the mood became "almost party like with light Opera singing" !!! Wow ! Our Thursday Work Day felt more relaxing !!! ;-)

Highlight Of My 1st Lunch Tasting - A good Introduction with the ex-Investment Banker & now Restaurant Owner - KATSUMI MIZUTANI-san ! My impression is "this Japanese Guy have both Drive and good Foresight ! ( because to pick Boat Quay which is almost forgotten & where there are not too many Interesting Eats that I enjoy except for MOOMBA ! ) He shared some of his future exciting plans, interesting ideas & JAPAN !!! ;-)

Checked their WEBSITE  - http://www.operagroup.com.sg/ - Wine Stories - "absolutely Must Drink emphasis on Superb White Wine" - MIZUTANI-san sure was "Not Just Talk Only But Action Too !!!" He offered my guest and myself a glass of their Fine White Wine for our Introduction Lunch.Of course a few more times later with both Fine White & Red Wine...Interestingly my good guest - NIKKI who initially declined my offer to order any Wine to pair with our Eats. But soon accepted Mizutani-san offer to do some Wine Tasting which only three of us enjoyed !!! ( ps.Gwen,we will arrange another lunch soon so that you can enjoy the Vino too !!! ;-) )

Special Note: L'Operetta boasts an impressive list of more than 200 Italian Wines especially for Wine Lovers !!! ;-)

On the Foodwise - My happy guests and myself enjoyed both their - al dente Pasta and Neopolitan style -"bread like texture" Pizza ( which Mizutani-san was very proud of their specially Imported Italian made Wood Fire Oven which was made from huge Volcanic Rocks found around the active Volcano of Mount Vesuvius and using only the best quality Imported Flour from Italy for unique traditional Pizza baking process that is accepted & qualify their quality Pizzas to have "VERA PIZZA NAPOLETANA CERTIFICATION !!! And L'Operetta is the Only Italian Eats in Singapore with this !!! ;-)

Special Note : The Photos Below Are Not Arranged According To Our Lunch Menu ! ( Guessed I must have drank too much Wine with Mizutani-san !!! ;-) Actually after my 1st Lunch Tastings,I have returned for more Lunch Tastings and added more Photos !!! ;-) )

Signature Pizza - PESCATORA ( Seafood Pizza ) - $26.00
( the Crust of their Pizza was fluffy yet chewy ! Best eaten when served on the table ! )

Signature Pasta - Fettucine With Fresh Tomatoes & Prawns In Light Curry Sauce
( the taste was interesting with a light Japanese style Curry gravy ! )

Squid Ink Seafood Pasta

Mozzarella,Parma Ham And Sun Dried Tomato Salad
With Olive Oil Dressing
( We enjoyed the taste of their Buffalo Mozzarella very much ! )

Signature Appetiser - Capesante di Hokkaido al Forno con Burro Aromatizzato
( Enjoyed this most - the Hakkaido Scallops which is oven baked in butter based gravy was rich & flavorful ! )
Since one of their Signature Eats are their above Neapolitan style Pizza, then of course their Chef homebaked Bread are of good standard ! Usually I will enjoyed a few servings each lunch tastings !!! ;-)

After gettng to know Chef SEITA better,I told him that for my Future Lunch Tastings,I have requested him to prepare OMAKASE-style ( In Japanese - "I will leave it to you !" ) Menu & he especially recommended for their Day's Special :

Signature Item - Charcoal Grilled Sea Bream With Mushrooms
( This was prepared very well ! Excellent ! )
After the above enjoyable Main Courses Eats, our good Japanese Chef SEITA will always arrange Sweet & Happy Finale !!! And of course their Japanese Owner - Mizutani-san liked a true "perfectionist" - he will have the last say or for a Special request to his Chef to prepare additional Sweets that's not available in the Menu for us to enjoy !!! ;-)

DOLCI : "Tiramisu Topped With Cocoa & Cassata - Ice Cream With
Dried Fruits And Pistachio Nuts"

Tiramisu and Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate
( Need More Work On Their Tiramisu ! )

DOLCI : "Profiteroles With Caramel Sauce"

SPECIAL CREATION - "Pizza With Blue Cheese And Honey"

This "enterprising & energetic" Japanese Owner - Mizutani-san have certainly "converted" all of us immediately into "Regulars" to his L'OPERETTA !!! Of course I was most happy to make a New Japanese Friend and also found another Fav Eats and my "feel good returns" were both my happy guests surprised me when they already thinking of their future biz lunches to be arranged here...and hosting happy dinner with their good friends soon !!! ;-)

Cheers & Enjoy !!!

And I have been looking forward a delicious hot bowl of Hong Kong style - WONTON Noodles ( by the former Exec Chef - Chui Chuen Lai from the famous MAK's NOODLE @ Central,Hong Kong - which i miss very much and which i will definitely visit for a quick bite almost every trip there !!! )

Actually i read in another Blog that "the author & others posted and commented that they were abit disappointed with the taste or the freshness of the Prawns Dumpling !" But it will be a good idea that they have another visit soon as much efforts from Chef Chui and PFS R & D to "fine tuned" the taste of this Signature WONTON Noodles with Prawn Dumplings !!!

And personally i felt that it's actually "much better than Mak's Noodle HK "minus the loads of MSG in the soup which a little of the soup will affect me & i will need to drink a Can of Coke immediately !!!...And usually because the small Size of the Bowl there, i will need order another bowl of Stew Beef Noodles to really feel a complete meal !!!"

And it's great that "it's now available here so whenever i feel liked enjoying this,i can save both airfare and the hassle to being in the small shop there!!!" ;-)

There were others HOT Items liked - Stew Beef with Tendons,Kai Lan Vegetable both cooked Hong Kong style. And also their Roast Pork & Duck and Char Siew combo !!!

But this Year of the Rabbit Lunch, the highlight was our ultimate "Lucky Lo Hei ( Yu Sheng - Teochew style ! )" where the Fish and Abalone were tossed into our Yusheng for Lots Of Good Luck and Prosperity !!!" ( which our good host have pre-ordered from TEOCHEW CITY SEAFOOD RESTAURANT - from the same building - #05-16 Centrepoint - Tel: +65 6733 3338 )

And for those Dessert Lovers enjoy a Sweet Finale to their meal, then please have a look and enjoy :

Honeydew Sago - $3.50

Herbal Jelly - $4.00

"KIN JAPANESE RESTAURANT & RAMEN" @ Level 3 Suvarnabhumi Airport,Bangkok,Thailand - Before Departure BKK 31/1/11

We had our 5th & FINAL GOLF @ CASCATA Golf Club - My good buddy JL and I enjoyed playing this course especially the Course & Weather conditions were almost perfect - Cool,Sunny & Windy !!! And at times because there were so many Japanese Golfers playing on the course & later almost every table at the "19th Hole" ( Golf Club Cafe ) were mostly Japanese Golfers. So of course in their Menu - there were several popular Japanese Eats section. So I thought their Chef must be really good so I ordered a Katsudon ( which tasted - good standard ! ) and definitely we must enjoy - Iced Cold Asahi Super Dry BEER to celebrate another Enjoyable game & of course - my "New Personal Record of Playing On 5 Different Golf Courses On Our 5 Days Bangkok Holiday !!!" ( Many thanks to my good buddy - JL !!! ) ;-)

Then about a hour's drive to SUVARNABHUMI AIRPORT & after all the necessary Check INs,etc,my good buddy - JL suggested that i check out this KIN RAMEN Shop

since we had more than a hour before departure !!! Great Idea !!! ( Mr.Li who's really amazed with my appetite during the trip !!! ;-)) ) Btw,the last time i had Ramen @ IPPUDO,i was disappointed because after my meal i was "MSG attacked"...and that gave me some concerns !!! But anyway since it was highly recommended - i decided to go for it @ KIN Japanese Restaurant & Ramen and ordered their KIN's Signature Ramen :

Luv KIN RAMEN
( Because I Didn't Felt Any MSG Attack !!! And It Was Really Yummy !!!
And It Was Slurped Up In Less Than 10 Mins !!! )

"SURAWONG KIEAK SHARK FIN CUISINE @ 294/3-4 Surawong Road,Bangkok - 3rd Dinner / 2011 - 29/1

Was so glad to be back to the above after such a long time ! This Eats is still the same old small 2 storey Shophouse ( next to Toyota Showroom ) and same Decor ( only a few tables on the 1/F and also on the 2/F ) & old Menu except this time there was no Rolls Royce parked there ! ( Was wondering if it belong to the Boss !!! ;-) ) But that nite at the front door it was "well protected" by plaincloths security,i was told by our driver - Khun John that there was a high ranked General entertaining his guest there ! And the other tables was mostly Japanese couples and friends ( as you can see from their Shop sign - there's Kanji too ! )

Personally i think KIEAK is the Best Thai Shark Fins that i have ever eaten in Bangkok ! And also there are a few basic or signature dishes that you can order and share to complete your meal because the "must order" is their Shark Fins ( In Claypot or On a Plate style - see Photos below ) There was only one Thai Waitress there that can understand a bit of English so you need to just point at the pictures or prices ( Shark Fin Small - Baht 2000 or Big Baht 3000 ) on their Menu !

Steaming Hot Claypot Of Quality Shark Fins
( My Buddy JL Enjoy It By Pouring His Bowl Of Thai Rice Into It !!! )

Stirred Cooked Plate With Quality Shark Fins
With Mushrooms And Been Sprout
( Best To Enjoy This By Using Your Spoon
And Pouring It On Your Bowl Of Thai Rice -
And I Had 2 Bowls Of Rice !!! Aroy Mak Mak !!! )

And this time i didnt get to enjoy my Abalone cooked "risotto style" !!! Mai Phen Rai Krup !!! ;-)

Our Enjoyable Dinner @ KIEAK :

Fresh & Sweet Thai Vegetables

Stirred Cooked Fish Maw With Small Prawns

Glass Noodles With Large Prawns

Goose Web
( Probably Will Eat Tis Only In Bangkok !!! ;-) )
