DELICIOUS @ SCOTT'S SQUARE,Singapore - 1st Lunch Tastings On November 29 2011

After our Sweets & Tea Break @ the New -WILD HONEY @ Scott's Square  last friday,my good friend - KIE and I decided to have quick look @ the other New Branded Shops & of course New Eateries @ their Basement level & we soon noticed this DELICIOUS CAKES below :



We were curious since we have not heard of DELICIOUS before....Even though after our Sweets earlier,of course we were wondering if there were any interesting & yummy Signature Eats that we could enjoy !!! And we also thought this New Eats from Made In Malaysia will create some competition for Wild Honey !!! Because during my recent lunch,it was almost packed with both locals and even Japanese Ladies !!! ;-)






Then it was great timing that I read on Monday, November 28 2011 - DINING OUT - The Business Times - "CROWD-PLEASING PORTIONS" by JAIME EE - before my "long awaited lunch with another very good friend - E LEE !!!" And I thought that since he have been so busy travelling,he probably have not been to Scott's Square before.And also he's a Malaysian,I wanted to know if he have heard of DELICIOUS before !!! ;-)

So before my good friend's arrival & I was listening to their funky muzak & I had a quick check & chat on their Menu ( check out their Website below ! ) with their friendly Manager ( from Singapore and he was frank enough to admit that he have never been to Malaysia before !....And probably it was same with the other Crew - mostly waitress that looked liked "student part timers" ! ) on their "MUST TASTE" Both Fusion & Signature Malaysian Eats liked :


DUCK CONFIT SPAGHETTI with Sundried
Tomatoes & Coriander - $15.00
- with all my recent Italian Eats - the above was "something more localised or fusion with home cooking style" & the Taste was good ( or maybe we were hungry because it took some coking time ! Guessed it could be newly opened ! ) - Rating : 7/10

RENDANG TOK SHORT RIBS -
Served With White Rice, Jelatah, Salted Egg, Ulam,
Emping with Sambal - $12.00

- As reviewed by Jaime & I agreed that - "the Beef Short Ribs are Giant Ribs - guessed the Chef must have read DINING OUT - "so it was Fork Tender & it was so Delicious that I thought I almost order more White Rice !!!" ;-)

It was a good idea to Share the above on your 1st Time Tasting so that you can enjoy the CHEF's Cooking for both Western & Malaysian Eats !!! Another Plus - their servings are "value for your money" Portions are Large so it will be great if you really hungry !!! ;-)

WATCH This SPACE - ( Because I will return for more Tastings liked their - NASI KERABU WITH AYAM PERCIK - $12.00 and Highly Recommended by their Manager - their Best Seller - COCONUT CAKE !!!

OTTO RISTORANTE - "White Alba Truffle Menu" Lunch On November 25 2011

After my recent holiday in Hong Kong,Since I missed my Fav Italian - it's now 3 Star Michelin - 8 1/2 OTTO e MEZZO so much !!! ( see my Recent Lunch & 1st Tastings postings ! ;-) ) And I badly needed "a Fix for a really good Italian Eats" so of course I immediately arranged lunch @ one of my Favs ( Btw there's no connection with both Otto ! But I told both Chefs about their OTTOs !!! ;-) ) @ one of my FAVs Italian Eats - OTTO Ristorante @ Red Dot Traffic Building !!! ;-) Plus there was another reason - I wanted to introduce this Fav Italian Eats to my good friend GWEN to enjoy but it was just too bad that she was "bitten by the Flu Bug !!!" Since the lunch reservations booked ahead already ( and it's not so easy to book a nice table because it's very popular for Business Entertainment during lunch ! ),of course I proceeded with my good Fav Lunch Foodie - KIE ! because I was looking forward to Taste their TRUFFLE MENU !!! ;-)

With CHEF MICHELE PAVANELLO
- from the Veneto region of northeastern Italy

Since it was "prized White Truffle Season" - ( harvested from the Langhe area of the Piedmont region in the northern Italy and the countryside around the city of Alba,the White Truffle boasts extreme decadence,intense flavours and fragrant aromas - a perfect combination which makes it a gastronimical delight among food lovers everywhere - from OTTO advert ! ) both Chef Pavanello & their Restaurant Manager - Paolo were busier serving ( see below ) those tables that ordered their popular White Truffle Menu !!!

And I also read a Interesting Interview with Chef Pavanello in - Wine & Dine Magazine - "ITALIAN GOLD" by Don Mendoza - "Chef Pavanello devulged: "We paid between S$7000 to S$8000 per kg as opposed to last year's S$5500 to S$6500 ( per kg ) The profit margin is not that large since we're almost selling the truffle at cost,but we feel that that it's an extra service that we provide to our diners" And that's really good !!! Later at the end of our enjoyable meal,we managed to enjoy a nice chat with Chef about his cooking style and about his thoughts on Fresh Ingredients !!! ;-)

And in my previous postings on OTTO - I have mentioned that - "I always thought that the quality & the presentation of the Home made Bread will indicate the standard or ratings of any Italian Eats !" And @ OTTO,I always enjoyed their Freshly Baked Bread Selection ( it was a large tray ) and i will always request for extra servings !!! ;-)



And interestingly my good Foodie Friend - KIE who is not really into "TRUFFLES" ( & must be Butter & not Extra Virgin Oil with the Bread ) so his preference was mostly Seafood Eats from their ALA CARTE MENU - and this was his Lunch orders below :

Lightly Smoked Crustacean Soup With Prawn Dumplings - ( $18.00 )
Spaghetti With Sea Urchin And Grey Mullet Bottarga - ( $30.00 )
And even it was still a work week, I was still on an extended holiday mood and I thought I "celebrate & give myself a early X'Mas treat" by enjoying a glass of their recommended house Red wine especially with their - White "Alba" Truffle Menu !!! ;-)



After a "tough time studying their Truffle Menu because there were several Favs Eats that i wanted to enjoy all during this lunch !!!" So I guessed it caught the attention of their "hard working & friendly" Restaurant Manager - PAOLO who immediately came over and highly recommended the following Tastings from their White Alba Truffle Menu :


"Of course Paolo told me that since I am a VIP,he actually gave me more Truffle !!! Haha !!!"

Scrambled Egg With Blue Swimmer Crab And White Truffle - ( $19 )
- The Taste of this was really wonderful that already made me looking
forward to the next Truffle Season !!! ;-)

Homemade Egg Tagliolini With White Truffle With White Emulsion - ( $26 )
- Looked So Ordinary But The Taste Was Great !!! ;-)
So I was a Happy Guy again because it was another very Enjoyable & Memorable Lunch @ OTTO !!!  And I shared both PAOLO and CHEF PAVANELLO that I will definitely hope to return soon to Taste more Truffle Eats before the Truffle season ends !!! After the above we felt "so stuffed" that we thought we should take a break by driving over to Tanglin Mall to enjoy our "GELATO @ BRUNETTI" - ( see my Posting - Tiramisu with Pistachio Gelato !!! YUMS !!! ;-) )

ZAFFIRO ITALIAN CUISINE ( CLOSED ) - "1st Lunch Tastings" - November 17 2011

Here's another ITALIAN CONNECTION - "L'ANGOLO and the above Newly Opened - ZAFFIRO - I was informed by Michele ( GM of L'Angolo ) more than a month ago & he requested me to check their soft spoken Chef Partner - GIULIANO DACASTO !!!

Of course "I thought - Wow ! Another Italian Eats ! Of course it's good for FOODIEs !!! But Mama Mia !!! With their Location - It definitely need more efforts on promotions & directions...And of course my Concerns with the High Rentals & also It will definitely be Challenging for Business on Weekends to "grab whatever business" !!! Also from Raffles Place to Maxwell location ( there's so many Excellent Eats in MBS & nearby MFC....And for Italian Eats excluding 5 Star Hotels in Marina & others located at Tanjong Pagar ) there are already - NO MENU, PROCACCI, FORLINO, L'ANGOLO and OTTO !!! So I guessed their celebrated CHEF DACASTO with impressive CV with works from 1 to 3 Star MICHELIN Italian Ristorantes !!! And he was formerly from IL LIDO,then FORLINO...then I have seen him @ L'ANGOLO !!!  ;-)



And on our Lunch Day - I was right about their "unique & new" Location - ASIA SQUARE TOWER ( Citibank ) - It's actually nearer to LAU PA SAT & you also need to know that it's on the other side of the building !!! In case you have a Lunch Date or Business Lunch,you probably need to go there earlier to check on this newly opened ASIA SQUARE TOWER location especially if you are walking from Raffles Place or Tanjong Pagar MRT ( Hopefully the Weather is Cool & Fine !!! ) And also for their Drop Off or Car Park !!!  ;-)

Next the DECOR is also just "too unique" - personally I felt that "their prefer use of Dark Colors just don't really fit my impression of Italian Eats & I though maybe it's suitable that their Glassed Front of Restaurant have some kind of coverage or decoration because there's too much distractions ( Sales of LEXUS Cars,etc ) to fully focus & enjoy the Chef's Signature Creations !!!" ;-)




Anyway it was good that I still have "my recent Foodie Mood from my Hong Kong Holidays" - so I was really keen to check out ZAFFIRO,so I called my "good Italian Friend" - MICHELE from L'ANGOLO to arranged with their experienced Restaurant Manager - PAOLO FUMAGALLI ( Just in case he pass his - Black & "Electric Blue" Color Business Card to you - It can be a "Test" for those with poor or ageing EYES especially after a humid walk from Raffles Place,then other Eats above & finally their lighting !!!....For a better idea you have a look at their Website below !!! ;-) ) for a VIP Table because I was hosting my good friends - JL,KIE and GL for our 1st Lunch Tasting !!! ;-)

( Wish their staff can introduce this a bit Clearer and Slower !!! ;-)

Many thanks to a recent DINING OUT Review on The Business Times by DEBBIE YONG - November 14 2011 - "Expect The Unexpected" with RATING : 7/10 - there was some ideas of the Chef Dacasto's "creative Italian Classics with a slight molecular gastronomy" !!! And after a quick introduction with their Manager PAOLO ( Of course his reply was - "Everything in the Menu is Good !!!" ) So I guessed we decided to "go with the flow or our Fav Italian Eats to do a comparison to know their standards !!!" ;-)

 And here's Our LUNCH MENU - STARTERS :


ALASKAN KING CRAB - With Asparagus,Zucchini and Sweet Chilli - $26


ROASTED GREENLAND SCALLOPS - In Cocoa Butter With Salaify and Franciacorta Wine - ( $28 )

And here are our MAIN COURSES that we enjoyed :


INK SPAGHETTI With Sea Urchin and Mussels - ( $30 )


RIGATONI PASTA - With Oxtail Ragout and Roman Pecorino Cheese - ( $30 )

*ps - their Manager PAOLO confessed that "I may not be able to read his handwriting so he used my Samsung Galaxy S to captured their Menu but it was not complete ! He would have suggested that he email me our Lunch Menu later ! ;-)

Since none of VIP Guests were keen on their Chef Dacasto's delightful DESSERTS,I had to tell the "disappointed" Manager PAOLO that it have to be another Lunch !!! ;-)

WILD HONEY @ SCOTT'S SQUARE - "Fav All Day Breakfast Tastings" - November 2011







It's definitely Good News & I'm Happy that there's now another WILD HONEY @ SCOTTS SQUARE !!! And even better for me,this one "save me time walking thru' ION,Wisma,Ngee Ann City & then finally be disappointed to see a long queue & waiting list @ their first - WILD HONEY @ MANDARIN GALLERY !!! And also it's timely that I can now take a Break from my other Favs @ ION liked - Marmalade Pantry & TWG !!! ;-)

Over here, I much prefer their DECOR here mostly because it's a larger & spacious dining area with high ceiling too !!! No more need to look at Chalk Board to order & pay immediately,then if you are alone then have any seating problems ! Now you can even do reservations & you can take a bit more time to study their MENU a bit then finally decide your craving for the day !!! And in their MENU here - beside your all time FAVs,there are Introductions of some of their NEW Eats that I will check it out soon !!! ;-)













And another feature that I LIKE over at SCOTTS SQUARE - there's also a 20 Seater Verandah Dining with a few FANs above for those who prefer for a change to Outdoor Dining to enjoy their Sweets and with a partial view of both ION and Shaw Centre.And you can also watch the traffic on Orchard & Scotts Road !!! ;-)




And on one of my earlier morning visit there,I told their Director - a Nice American - GUY WACHS that "I had only - WILD HONEY on mind & that it somehow made me walked over from - The American Club just to enjoy a Late Breakfast from their - ALL DAY BREAKFAST MENU ( and I also joked with him that I plan to Order & Taste A Different Item for Every Visit if possible !!! He didn't looked surprised liked there's already others that have done that & he cooly replied - "So you would liked to start from the top of the list ?" ;-) ) And that morning, I started with :


BASQUE - Softly Scrambled Eggs With Melted Red & Yellow Peppers & Onions
With Imported Spanish Serrano Ham & their Signature Brioche - S$22.00



And on another nice afternoon visit together with my Good Friend - ERIC,I highly recommended that we shared this :

CARIBBEAN - Coconut  Waffles Bound By Fresh Passionfruit Creme Patisserie,
Fresh Baby Bananas & Slices Of Mango, Toasted With Coconut Flakes & Passionfruit Syrup - $20.00

And with the above Eats - I will usually enjoy with a cuppa Almond Caffe Latte !!! Or if it's a Humid Day then it will be their - Iced Latte below ! ;-)



Or you can consider their - HONEY MOCKTAIL DRINKS too !!! ;-)
