IMPERIAL TREASURE STEAMBOAT @ ION ORCHARD - "Fav After Happy Hour Eats" Year 2011

With the success of the First - Imperial Treasure Steamboat @ TripleOne & I really salute & thank their "enterprising" Ex Crystal Jade now Imperial Treasure Group CEO Alfred Leung for opening this Hong Kong style Steamboat which is "my No.1 Fav Eats !!!" ;-)

Over @ TripleOne,most times we have "seating problems" because there is only Two small VIP Rooms there - with a maximum seating capacity of 10 paxs ! And if the Main Dining is packed, then the "Noise Level" can drown out any conversations you are having !!! So of course I am very happy that few months ago, their Manager JOE alerted me that "there are plans for a larger & more comfortable Imperial Treasure Steamboat to open at ION Orchard - and there will be from small "couple" VIP Room to large VIP Rooms for private parties or large family gatherings !!! ;-)

After it finally opened @ ION Orchard,so far we have enjoyed this new Imperial Treasure several times already ! From our experience - Lunch on Week Day - may take too long & with meetings later,it will be hard to enjoy,so most times - It will be our great TGIF & "Under One Roof" Plan will be - "After hard week of work, first - we can Enjoy Happy Hours Drinks to Chill Out @ another "enterprising" friend Sam Yeo's - BALACLAVA @ #05-02 ( see earlier posting & currently there are renovations for "live band performances" soon ! Looking forward !!! ;-)

Here a good TIP to Share : for IMPERIAL TREASURE STEAMBOAT @ ION #04-09/10 - especially on Friday and Weekends Dinner - to avoid any long waiting time,it will be Best to pre-book a nice Table or VIP Room ( with a side nite view of the Large Screen & the "happenings" on Scotts and Orchard Road ) so you can Relax & Enjoy - just take your time to cook each Fresh Seafood,Meat,Vegetable or Noodles at your own pace ( Over here it will be a mistake to throw everything into the boiling Soup !!! )  Enjoy the Excellent Service because usually there will be a staff assigned to your VIP Room to cook your preferred Eats for you to enjoy !!! ;-)

Highly Recommend Soup will be their - "Imperial Drunken Chicken With Ginseng Soup ( $21 each ) - Just to Share that "this is actually a good deal because it include a serving of half a Wine-Marinated Chicken ( which already will cost : $12 ) And from their MENU with 10 different Soups to choose - this is definitely our No.1 Fav Soup because it taste full of flavour ! And another tip - If you order this, then cook and enjoy the Chicken for the Taste of the Wine & of course the Sweetness of the Chicken !!!  And then at a later stage of your meal & with all the Live Seafood and Fresh Vegetable added later, the Soup will taste so delicious that you probably will enjoy several servings !!! ;-)

Another Fav Soup ( that you can have an additional order on the other half of the Steamboat Pot ! ) will be a "healthy choice" - "Pork Bone's Soup With Tomato and Potato ! Luv this too !!!

Usually we will order this "SKINS" to enjoy with our Steamboat !!! -

Fried Bean Curd Rolls

Deep Fried Fish Skins

From their Ala Carte MENU and Special Orders ( Best to Pre-Order their Seasonal Imported Live Seafood to "avoid any disappointments !!!" ;-) ) :

- "Four Treasure Ball Platter" - ( which have 2 pcs each - Freshly made -Prawn,Cuttlefish,Canton Mud Carp and Pork Balls - $8 ) - Of course in case you enjoy their Fresh Prawn Ball more, then additional order will be : ( $8 )

Another "Must Order" will be their - Live Prawns Skewered On Sticks - ( $7 for 100g ) - which taste Sweet and Succulent !!! ;-)

And also Live Garoupa that you should not cook it too long in the soup and also there will be special soyu sauce provided :

And you can also check if there are any "Live Small Sized Lobsters" available - "Still thinking of the delicious taste of the Freshness & Sweetness !!!" ;-)

And for those who enjoy quality USA Choice Short Rib Meat ( $28 ) this is a Must Order because - "the taste is so wonderfully delicious and flavourful !!! ( even without dipping in any of the sauce provided above !!! ) ;-)

Or you can also request to enjoy the above another cooking way -

For those who prefer quality Pork, then you can order & taste their Imported - Kurobuta Pork Belly - which is the japanese name for a bread of black pig, which is of the highest quality ! ;-)

For other Live Seafood that we enjoy are their FISH MAW which is considered a delicacy and a source of collagen. And there are some High End or Michelin Star Cantonese Restaurants in Hong Kong, their Chef will prepare - Double Soups with Shark's Fins and Abalone and include "high grade quality Fish Maw" that can be very expensive !!! So just take a look their serving  :

And I liked to Share & Recommend for those who enjoy Live Seafood especially - this "Green Lipped Abalone" that is Imported from Australia ( Most of the time, when available,it's Sold Out !!! So it's best to call and book ahead !!! At their Imperial Treasure @ Great World City - sometimes you can see on the walls of their Glass Tanks, there are several of these "stuck on it !!!" And the Chef need a "special cutting machine to cut open the shell & then slice and prepare it "Sashimi" Style !!! So that you can enjoy in Two Ways - Sashimi Style or Quick Dip in the Boiling Hot Drunken Chicken Soup !!! ;-) )

Another Fav & Recommended will be - GEODUCK

In case after the above very Enjoyable & Delicious Steamboat Dinner,if you still have "any space" or you must always have a Sweet & Happy Finale, then you can consider these Home Made Chinese Sweets !!! ;-)

Again more Photos will be added soon !!! ;-)
Cheers & Enjoy !!!

NO MENU @ BOON TAT STREET,Singapore - "FAV "ITALIAN HOME COOKED STYLE" LUNCH EATS" - DEC 2011 - FEB 2012

Since it was a cool December afternoon,I planned to walk from The China Club @ Capital Towers for "more tastings" @ Hong Lim Complex for another new posting - "My Fav Eats" there !" But somehow by "letting feet do the walking" to which ever path that was smooth flowing, I walked quickly into a little lane called - Boon Tat Street & immediately I recalled that was where the famous ( ex Forlino, then Osvaldo, then no more ideas for new names so it's No Menu ! ) - Chef OSVALDO FORLINO's ( family-style ) - NO MENU Italian Restaurant was located ! ;-)

Excellent location for Business Lunch for the busy corporate executives from Raffles Place & also  for Dinner for true Foodies & Families to appreciate & enjoy their specially prepared Degustation & Home Cooked Style Menu & Daily Specials !!! ;-)

Of course my 1st thoughts was - a quick look to check how interesting No MENU was ? Then I walked into their Newly Opened Extended Shophouse ( Wow ! Guess their business must be very good !!! And also it was good to know that - "there was actually Ala Carte MENU but I heard the guest seated next table requesting for her Fav Vongole Pasta & Chef Forlino agreed to prepare it !!!" ;-) )

Then soon Chef Forlino's friendly wife - Patrizia ( who's liked your good Italian Auntie ! ) came over while her manager was showing me the Menu and she pointed that "the Pastas are great but No more Pizzas !" before she happily went off to the kitchen. Then few minutes later,Chef Forliono ( he's liked your good Italian Uncle ! ;-) ) greeted me and we enjoyed a quick chat & update about the latest Italian Eats in both Singapore and Hong Kong !!! ;-)

With CHEF Osvaldo Forlino

Since my past lunch tastings @ his ex-Osvaldo Restorante @ Maxwell Chambers,I shyly told him that it was actually my 1st Visit because I needed to find a suitable time & also good friends that are keen to enjoy their DEGUSTATION MENU for Dinner ( if for Lunch it may take too long and also it may be too much ! ) which has 10 - 15 Courses - $98 per pax ! So far I heard "mixed reviews" from good friends who had tasted so far ! It could be that they may have tasted "different menu or eats on diiferent timing !" And I read that when No Menu was newly opened - not even his pretty daugther Serena, who manages No Menu, know what her father was cooking that day ! Guess I need to do my own tasting of their degustation menu at least once before sharing any comments ! ;-)

Interestingly I read a few Interviews in Past Reviews liked - "Forlino Opens Own Eatery: by Melissa Sim - life! - The Straits Times - January 27 2011 - that "Chef Forlino vows to use the Freshest Ingredients and personally makes the trip to the wet market every morning to source fresh meat, fish and vegetables. He then cycles, with his haul, from the wet market at ( my Fav ) Chinatown Complex to his restaurant and he is there from 8am to closing time !"

And in another Review - "As Good As It Gets" by Annette Tan - Food - Today - February 9 2011 - "The food is largely home style Piedmontese - hearty, rustic and made using the freshest seasonal produce from Piedmont and Kreta Ayer Market"

And of course,I enjoyed reading - my Fav & Good Friend - Geoffrey Eu - "Getting Fresh" - DINING - The Business Times Weekend - January 29-30 2011 !

And finally there was another - "Light's The Way" by Wong Ah Yoke - Taste - The Sunday Times - March 6 2011- "after reading this,I must really return to taste their TIRAMISU !!! ;-)

And I complimented Chef Forlino on their Italian rustic & homely DECOR & I enjoyed the warm atmosphere because I felt liked "being entertained by his Forlino family again !!!" Later just before I was going to enjoy my Pasta, his daugther Serena wanted to know if I am enjoying my lunch & again before the my desserts !!! Excellent friendly service !!! ;-)

Chandeliers "hand picked" by Chef Forlino

Look liked "today lunch business was very good with a full house booking ( So I must be a "Lucky Walk In Guest" !!! ;-) ) Btw there is a Private Room on the 2/F for your Special & Important Parties !!! ;-)

Feeling so relaxed in their comfortable chair,I was quickly served with a plate of their Home Baked Bread, which I enjoyed very much !!! ;-)

Breaded Sardine - This Was Tasty But I Must Request To Taste Their
Bruschetta With Chopped Fresh Tomato in my Next Tastings !!! ;-)

Since my good Foodie Friend & Regular Lunch Partner - KIE was busy at work ( or else he could have check out & "test" his Fav - "Squid Ink Tagliolini ! ) So anyway I felt that i definitely will still enjoy my lunch @ NO MENU !!! Since I was hungry already,I quickly checked with their Indian Manager - Praba on his recommendation for their House - "Most Popular Red Wine,Pasta and Dessert !!!" ;-)

BUON APPETITO !!! Here was my Lunch Menu that I enjoyed on :

- Enjoyable Italian Lunch @ NO MENU on December 21 2011 *****

Home Made Tagliatelle With Wild Boar Sauce - $28

DOLCI - Cioccolato Gianduja Con Crema Di Crema di Mascarpone
e Croccante di  Nocciole - $15

Of course after my enjoyable lunch I told both Chef Forlino & Serena that I will be returning with my good friends soon !!! ;-)

*****YEAR 2012 - FEB 3 - "Enjoyable Lunch With KIE" !!! ;-)

- After my above lunch,I highly recommended my good Foodie Friend - KIE that we must enjoy lunch together @ NO MENU !!! And I was happy to see that he enjoyed the "home cooked style Italian cooking" and we were personally served by Mrs.Forlino aka Patrizia !!! She will intoduced and shared on her thoughts on every item below !!! ;-)

NO MENU - WELCOME DRINK !!! ;-)

LATEST UPDATE - Soft Opening On Feb 13 2012 - "All Day Italian Meal" Concept !!! ;-)

AMOY STREET FOOD CENTRE - "MY FAV EATS" - YEAR 2011 - 2012

After Sharing by posting - "Chinatown Complex Food Centre - My FAV Sunday Breakfast Eats" - I am happy to Share another Fav Eats Place - "AMOY STREET Hawker Centre" - this is where I have several FAVs for Breakfast,Lunch and even Supper @ Quan Ji ( see below ) !!! ;-)

Let's start with - AH SENG ( HAI NAM ) COFFEE - after I was introduced by my good friend P Chang,I am "hooked" on their - "Soft Boiled Eggs which most times will be cooked with almost prefect timing & after adding a few drops of Black Soya Sauce & Pepper, you can just stir a bit & then slurp it in seconds !!! Or you can dip your Kaya Toast & enjoy a "wonderful combination of taste in your mouth !!!" ;-)

Must Try their - local style French Toast with a Cup of Hot Milo !!! And sometimes I need to request for more KAYA because it's not too sweet & really yummy !!!" ;-)

Next will be the "Battle Of FISH SOUPS" - For late breakfast about 930am - I enjoy- HAN KEE because I heard the Teochew Uncle have a very good direct daily source from his relative @ Seafood Market @ Jurong Port.So can you imagine the freshness of the Fish ? ;-)

"I read in "No.1 Food Blogger for Hawker Eats" -Dr.Leslie Tay's Book that - this Teochew Uncle will start boiling the Soup ( uses the bones of the Batang Fish ) @ 5am and it is only ready at 10am !" ( Recently I have been lucky that I can enjoy below about 930am ! And the "usually very busy Teochew Auntie" will even have time to serve you ! ;-) ) And Dr.Tay added - "Uncle shared with him that - he uses the best quality Knife Brand Vegetable Oil and No Pork Lard !" But what I really think it's healthy is the amount of lettuces ( see below ! ) is added together with the fresh fish !!! And I agreed that - "the thinly sliced fresh fish is best enjoy piping hot before the fish is overcooked !!!" ;-)

But - Please Take Note - if arrive after 1130am - 130pm then you will need to join the "super long queue of Office Folks with more than 15 paxs on week days lunch & if you are along you also need to look for a table later" !!! :

Clearer but Healthier to enjoy the Freshness Of The Fish Meat !!! ;-)

Enjoy This !!! ;-)

For another FAV - "PIAO QI FISH PORRIDGE" - please take note that - "the maximum waiting time is about 30mins because the queue will be as long with sometimes 10-12 paxs ! And also note the prices will be higher than HAN KEE !" There will be "auntie there, who is sometimes moody taking orders !" And the Teochew Uncle there,he look liked he enjoy "making you wait while you watch his cooking !!!" But actually the longer time taken is "really worth waiting" because his special cooking process for cooking each order individually by adding Fried Galangal,Onion and a bit of Lard that will make the broth taste fragant & also "the fish will not be overcooked !!!"

I guessed it's a tough call on which is my Fav Fish Soup because I also enjoy Fresh Seafood - Fish & Prawn Soup @ PIAO QI ( but sometimes I found the Soup to be a bit too saltish but still ended almost finishing it !!! ) Here you can choose from SANG YU ( Snakehead Fish ) or PROMFRET ( of course please check their Prices as advertised ! ) ;-)

"How to beat the long queue ?" @ PIAO QI - Best to enjoy as a "late lunch from 130pm onwards & about 1130am on weekends !!!  ;-)

For Late Dinner & Supper - I was actually "on my way to KA SOH also @ Amoy Street for a hot & tasty bowl of Sliced Fish Bee Hoon & do a "takeaway to taste their HOR FUN",then I decided to check out if there was any Interesting Eats @ the Amoy Street Hawker Centre & I noticed that - QUAN JI - most tables taken up  & their helpers were liked so busy taking orders so I thought I check & taste it !!!"

- Another "Quick Dinner Eats" will be -

- the above UNCLE only Specialise in both FRIED RICE and HOR FAN with the WO HEI Cooking style and the above was really Value For $$$ ! ( Only $3.50 ) ;-)

For LUNCH - Just in case there are Super Long Queues @ both Popular Fish Soup Eats,I will enjoy this "once in awhile" especially the Herbal Soup !!! ;-)

Cheers & Enjoy !!!
